Book Haul - Wurts, Scott, Carl

It's been a while, I know. I still like doing these posts because I always like reading/stalking others' similar posts. I've been focusing mainly on the other blog, as you may (or may not) have noticed.

The Overlord Rising: Dragon Touched by E.W. Scott (Black Rose)
The book, Dragon Touched, is the first in the “The Overlord Rising” series. The story takes place in a world called the Eight Boulders Realm, where a young king struggles to maintain peace after the death of his father and disappearance of his older brother. When the daughter of the duke of one of the larger duchies finds herself in the throes of magic she can neither understand nor control it sets in motion a series of events that threatens the tenuous peace the king has thus far sustained.

Initiate's Trial (War of Light and Shadow #9; Arc 4, #1) by Janny Wurts (HarperVoyager) - Been meaning to start this series for a while, I guess this is the perfect opportunity.
The first book in the fourth arc, Sword of the Canon, finds Arithon and Lysaer on an unstoppable path toward direct conflict

Half-brothers Arithon and Lysaer were laid under a curse of lifelong enmity when they defeated the Mistwraith and freed the world of Athera. Now Arithon has been magically imprisoned and his memories have been removed. Meanwhile his daughter is being raised and trained by his enemy, the Koriani enchantress, but when she eventually learns of her father's existence, she chooses her own destruction to secure his freedom. Still ruled by the Mistwraith's curse, Lysaer will stop at nothing to find and destroy the newly freed Arithon.

Bestial by William D. Carl (Gallery) - I was a bit turned off by the cover, but read this blurb, it sounds pretty cool.
BENEATH THE DIM LIGHT OF A FULL MOON, MADNESS REIGNS. . . .

As night descends on Cincinnati, the city braces for hell on earth: The populace mutates into huge, snarling monsters that devour everyone they see and act upon their most base desires. Planes fall from the sky. Highways are clogged with abandoned cars, and buildings explode and topple. The city burns.

And when daylight comes at last, the same monsters return to human form, many driven insane by atrocities committed against friends and families. . . .

Only four survivors are immune to the metamorphosis: a smooth-talking thief who lives by the code of the Old West; a bank teller who’s put her past behind her; a wealthy, disillusioned housewife; and a desperate teenaged runaway. Together they form an unlikely quartet that must find a way to stop the apocalypse before the next full moon.
